Hounsdown School - A Science College

School Uniform

Hounsdown is a school proud of its ethos, values and standards. We want students in their uniform to reflect that pride, knowing they belong to such a strong community.

In order to maintain good standards of dress and personal appearance, which are sensible and appropriate for students, please review our School Uniform Policy (under 'General Policies' section). This avoids inequalities of dress and extremes of fashion which are often quite unsuitable for work at school.

Any student wearing incorrect uniform will be told to correct it and a mark will be placed on their uniform tracker. Each time a row on the tracker is completed, a sanction will be put in place by the tutor. Should uniform breaches happen on a regular basis, parents will be asked to attend a meeting with the tutor to discuss a way forward. The Behaviour Policy will be applied for any refusal to follow a reasonable instruction to amend uniform during the school day.

If you are unsure about any aspect of our school uniform, please contact the school for clarification. We are happy to provide advice and guidance on what is acceptable for school before any purchases are made.

Please remember that there is a large quantity of good quality ‘pre-loved’ uniform that can be accessed through our Hounsdown School Association by contacting HSA@hounsdown.hants.sch.uk.

There is also school uniform grant which can be applied for by parent/carers via the form on the website.
