Moving from primary school to secondary school is an exciting time of life but for many children, it can also be a daunting prospect. A new, much bigger school can offer greater independence, and a world of opportunity. However, it also means new teachers, new subjects and potentially a whole new set of friends.

We very much look forward to welcoming your young person into our community and working in partnership with you.

Starting Secondary School, a campaign aimed at 10 to 12 year olds, their parents/carers and teachers, shines a light on the great potential of starting afresh in secondary school and also offers practical advice and emotional support to help take the stress out of taking the next big step. School uniform

In order to maintain good standards of dress and personal appearance, which are sensible and appropriate for students, please see our School Uniform webpage and review our School Uniform Policy (under 'General Policies' section). This avoids inequalities of dress and extremes of fashion, which are often unsuitable for work at school.

• Application for School Uniform Grant

School Uniform can be purchased in the following ways:

• Skoolkit have a shop in Totton where uniform is always available and a wide range of shirts, trousers, skirts etc are also stocked.
  
  
• Online from the Skoolkit website www.skoolkit.co.uk (postage charges will apply). Hounsdown School has a dedicated uniform page on the Skoolkit site to assist with ordering.
  
  
• We are pleased to partner with the Fairtrade school uniform company, Koolskools, who provide quality Fairtrade uniform at affordable prices. All Koolskools manufactured uniform is made with Fairtrade cotton and recycled polyester. You can buy the Fairtrade/ECO uniform online at: https://bit.ly/430AluY.  The Koolskools range is also available at the Koolskools shop in Shirley – c/o Holt and Haskell, 387 Shirley Rd, SO15 3TS (phone number 02380 771 839).
  
  
• School uniform grants may be paid to parents/carers whose children are eligible for free school meals. For further information is available here... Application for School Uniform Grant.
