Hounsdown school is proud to be a strategic partner in the ETC ( ) Teaching Schools Alliance. This alliance was formed in September 2011, when Wildern School ( Hedge End) & Hounsdown became one of England’s first 100 national teaching schools. The school now works as a strategic partner along with 10 other partner schools ( including Bartley CE juniors, Hazel Wood Infants, The Oaks CE Learning Federation, Oak Lodge) and two universities.
The work and aim of the partnership is to raise student outcomes and achievements through a focus on the following:
· Initial Teacher Training – schools working with university providers to provide their own teacher training in schools
· Leadership development and talent management
· Improving teaching and learning
· Providing school to school support and training opportunities
Hounsdown has a proven track record in collaboration and leadership development, having previously gained national status as a higher performing school focusing on the development of staff and students leadership.
Hounsdown provides professional development opportunities to other schools and their colleagues including running leadership courses for teachers across our partnership of schools. We have two specialist teachers of education ( SLEs) and two members of the Senior Leadership team including the Headteacher who are nationally trained to deliver this training.
